      Entretien

I was contacted via email from a person from HR expressing their interest in my skill set for a new DoD program they were awarded. At first, I had no idea how they received my information because I did not apply to any of their job reqs. I would later find out from the same HR person during a follow up interview that their internal system specified that I applied on their website. This sounded kind of shady but I had never heard of this program and was intrigued. So, I agreed to the interview. The interview process consisted of two face-to-face interviews. It is worth noting that the start times for these face-to-face interviews were shuffled around four times with very little notice even though both interviews were scheduled several days in advance. For the first interview, it was a half hour with the HR person asking generic HR questions and another half hour with two other Dsoft employees asking generic questions about my experience (nothing technical). They even asked me some questions that gave me an impression that the company may have some bad personality types. When I asked questions pertaining to the job I was interviewing for, they could not answer them and deferred to a person that was supposed be at the interview but, did not show up. The interview wrapped up and a day later I got an email requesting a “final” interview. As mentioned above, the second interview start time was shuffled around three times. The second interview consisted of a senior manager and the person that was supposed to be present at the first interview. I was able to get most of my questions that I had from the first interview answered however, there were some important questions that they could not answer such as “what is the official job title?” and “Is there an official job description?” (yes, they could not provide an official job description!). The best they could do is show me a statement of work document with a very generic overview of the requirements of the job. Whenever I would try to dive deeper into any specifics, they would respond with “I don’t know” or “I can find out”. The most surprising part of the interview was when the senior manager did not know the difference between a CCNA and a CCIE certification. You would think this would be something they know since they are trying to hire on a senior level network architect/engineer. The next day, I got an email from the HR person explaining that they were pleased with interview session however, my target salary range was too high for my level of experience and could not move forward. I guess 13 years of experience, a Bachelors degree, and a CCIE certification is not enough for a target salary that is 10K less than what I make at my current job. Overall, this was a big waste of time and I should have heeded some of the bad reviews they received on their glassdoor profile before accepting any of their request for interviews. The whole interview process was highly disorganized. If you are an IT professional in the DoD space (specifically a network engineer), I would highly recommend staying away.
