I have to start with that I think the product is great and has great potential. Unfortunately I felt that the whole interview process was quite disorganised and some of the interviewers were incredibly rude.
I was interviewed by the two SDETs one of whom was acting Lead - they ran through the tech test part, asked about my experience and what I could bring to the table. Overall I felt that part was positive aside from taking my feedback of their technical test - I believe the process is an opportunity for both parties to give feedback and learn.
The 2nd part was with an Engineering Manager, it was quite positive and good conversation overall.
By this point I learnt a bit about the culture and thought this was a reasonable place full of opportunities and challenges to overcome - fun.
My 3rd interviewer was a product manager from the Silicon Valley, impressive some may think. But unfortunately he came in with a mindset to catch me out throwing curve ball (pun intended) interrogation tactics at me, sadly I snapped once he put words in my mouth. I’m a big believer in standing up for yourself and not being bullied by other people egos. It is incredibly unprofessional to treat anyone like that.
On top the room was double booked so we had to leave to go to kitchen to finish that part of the interview. By this point my original assumption about the culture was destroyed.
I was hoping my last interview with the person I would be reporting in to would restore faith in to the business. But once again another curve ball, sadly the last person was double booked. Which in my opinion is a little rude, my time is as valuable as theirs.
As originally stated, highly disorganised but product and business has high potential. My advice is to learn from mistake, check egos at the door and respect each candidate as you would yourself.
