      Entretien

I recently had the opportunity to go through the interview process for a position at Control Risks. I’ve heard a bit from them before here on Glassdoor and through a family member who knows about them. My background is agency and very dynamic/creative brands so I wasn’t sure that would be the right fit, but I gave it a go! I was worried it wouldn’t really fit my CV pedigree as no one in my industry would know about them but I was still impressed by the large variety of companies they work with Positive experience with the initial screening interview, which was quite positive and set a hopeful tone. The second interview was also somewhat constructive, with questions focused on my experience. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that some of the inquiries were more about extracting insights from me than a mutual evaluation. Unfortunately, the process took an unexpected turn following the second interview. After what felt like a promising engagement whilst I had reservation, I encountered a significant lapse in communication. I found myself in a position where I had to actively chase for updates. This prolonged silence became quite frustrating, especially when I learned, quite abruptly, that they had extended an offer to another candidate during all the time they were kind of putting me in limbo. I realized that while I was being transparent about my own job search, they were simultaneously pursuing other options without any communication regarding the status of my candidacy. Moreover, the process seemed rather drawn out and somewhat corporate in nature. It was initially outlined as a two-stage interview; however, the first interview lacked depth, leaving me puzzled about the need for such a lengthy procedure and the 2nd interview never happened. When I finally received feedback, I was informed that the other candidate was chosen for their superior skills in "engaging with stakeholders." This feedback struck me as peculiar, given that stakeholder engagement has been a hallmark of my career. Nonetheless, I am thankful for this experience as it led me to a more suitable position that offers not only a better title but also a more competitive salary based on my seniority. It appears I may have dodged a bullet in this process, and I wish the best to the individual who ultimately takes on the role. A straightforward and transparent approach is what I value most, and I hope they can refine their process for future candidates. all the best moving forward.
