Had a phone screening which went extremely well. Recruiter specified no experience was required and wished me luck on next-rounds. Scheduled next interview the same day. I prepared five pages of notes for this interview, I knew everything about this company and this role. I was over-prepared by the time the second interview came. Second interview came and I never felt so unwelcome, so intimidated and uncomfortable. Two women interviewed me: one was kind and smiled when I spoke, actively listened and seemed approachable. The other, the "main" interviewer, seemed like that interview was the LAST place she wanted to be. She smiled twice (and yes, I counted because I was in disbelief). She said they had my resume available in front of them in case I referenced anything, yet every question was about my (lack of) experience for the role. In fact, she specifically asked, rather rhetorically, if I had any direct experience and then followed up with, "Well, what sets you apart from someone who actually has experience?" To put the cherry on top, I prepared very insightful, thoughtful questions to present at the end of the interview. While the kind interviewer remarked at what a great question it was, the other merely scoffed and brushed over the question, implying it was rather stupid of me to ask. I do not think the interviewer actually cared about the potential employee. Rather, they wanted to make sure the new addition would be able to be thrown a workload they didn't want to handle. I have NEVER felt so demeaned and disrespected in an interview in my life. In my previous role I did many interviews and I am appalled anyone would be talked to in such a way. She forgot she was also selling me on the company, too. Compass, I am so grateful you passed up on me. I have a horrible taste in my mouth thanks to that experience and I would've turned you down the moment you offered a third round. I sincerely hope someone reads this and relays it to your team, because you have serious work to do.

The interviews themselves were not difficult. They asked standard questions and I didn't feel like I was being interrogated or that there were any trick questions. Everyone I met and talked to was very friendly and kind. However, the length of the interview process was extremely drawn out for what is an entry-level position. There was a recruiter phone call, then a virtual interview with 2 members of the marketing team, another virtual interview with the hiring manager, and then after waiting 2 weeks I was invited to meet someone higher up on the marketing team in person in the office... after that, I had to wait 2 more weeks to hear that they had chosen someone else for the position. I liked everyone I spoke with, but this long drawn-out process with lots of long waits for a low-level position left a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel that my time was not respected. Even if I had received an offer, I wasn't sure if I was going to accept it because of this.
