HR round
Karat interview
One of the worst experiences. Unrealistic expectations of the company. Unless you are from FAANG, don’t even bother to apply.
Solely depends on your luck of the interviewers strength. If you are good in Java and not so much in other prog languages, the Karat interviewer is good at other prog languages and not Java, the interviewer will give a negative feedback.
I honestly believe it is a waste of time and in agreement with other reviews.

1 Phase HR fast interview. - 15 min
2 Phase Technical interview on CODEPAD - 1 hour
Upon going through coding interview and completing it I got contacted by HR an hour later saying that they still considering me but if I want to apply to QA position since they think its better fit. Not sure how QA is better fit if I completed their coding solution and I applied for a SDET job. On top I coded not in JS and obviously that what they need despite saying any language. After some consideration I decided to explore QA position just to see why they think QA is better and it was obvious that they need JS not the language I know the whole process was a waste of time for me . I got official reject letter for QA and got nothing back about SDET.

So, I sent my resume to Compass for their SDET role. The director of engineering sent me a weird email asking me four fine questions then giving me condescending advice which I never asked.
The good questions he asked was:
1) Why do you want to come to Compass?
2) Why do you think you would be a good SDET?
3) Have you considered a QAE positions?
4) Why should we hire you?
My Answer: I answered the questions fine.
Condescending question/advice he asked: Please send me your response as you may have what it takes to be successful. I like perseverance and understand what it is like coming out of school trying to get your first break.
My Answer: This question/advice is condescending since my resume shows that I have years of experience as a developer in different industries. I never had a “break” since I have been working every year as a developer. In addition, I graduated in 2015 which was three years ago.
Second condescending question/advice he asked: I suggest you revisit your resume and get it down to 1 to 2 pages. When you are at a company for the summer please put intern next to it. Focus on relevant experience to the job you are applying. you should have several different copies of your resume.
My Answer: It is clear that he didn’t read my resume since I have never been an intern in my life. All the jobs I have had were full time or contract roles. Then he claims that my jobs are not relevant to the role which they are since the role asks for experience in SQL. For my past IT roles and Developer roles you need to be competent in SQL.
After the email he later wanted to schedule and interview with me then apologized to me which I didn’t think was sincere at all. He then told me he just got hired by compass four weeks ago. After the interview a week later, I received a rejection letter.
