The interview process is set up in two steps. The first step is to make it through the panel interview. Typically it consists of the Program Director and one of the Program Supervisors, although there may be different people present. The questions asked are farily typical interview questions related to abilities, how you respond to difficult situations and your expereince with autism. If you pass the first interview, you will be asked to set up a date to do a "field" interview. For this interview you will go out into the community with a group, like you will when you get the job, except you will be paired with only one child who has autism (employees get 2). It's your job for the day to coach the child in socialization skills. Have no fear you will be given lots of good advice and the other employees are always happy to help. Overall the job of Community Coach is a lot of fun and offers many opportunities to learn as long as you keep an open mind.
