I know this is an older review; however, it's not accurate. It depends on the franchise location you work for. Most designers can select the days and windows they accept leads along with the distance they will travel. Some designers don't care how far they drive since they want as many appointments as possible. Based on local employment laws, training can be paid. Earning a higher income from commission usually comes as you settle into the position and learn to design and sell. Plus, you find that many clients are so happy with their units and how being organized makes them feel they purchase again and refer you to their friends and family. Most importantly, there is nothing wrong with asking for help from the sales manager or owners to shorten the learning curve. Many offices also have an ops manager that can also provide design help. In general, most of the in-house staff is there to support the designer.
