Contacted by recruiter about the position, and had good communication with him at first, but he was engaging me about multiple roles. The first that I interviewed for was very casual and conversational. I expected the same coming into this interview. Boy was I wrong.
Not only had the recruiter failed to provide me with crucial role-specific information, but the interviewers grilled me for specifics. One interviewer was literally going down a list of questions trying to check a “yes or no” box. The other interviewer barely spoke but stared into the middle distance. By the time I wrapped up with these two I knew the interview wasn’t going to turn into anything. And then they turned me over to a panel of about five other individuals. This group was a bit more relaxed, but I knew I couldn’t recover from the bad start.
Overall, I think I could have performed much better had the recruiter given me more info on the role. I also would have liked to know that this interview was much more formal than my first, which was more of an exploration of the role and how I might be a good fit.
