      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Classical Movements (Alexandria, VA)

      Entretien

I first submitted my resume to Classical Movements in response to an online posting for an Operations Manager. It seemed like a dream job and I was willing to do whatever it took to get hired. At the time, I was participating in a prestigious internship in Florida with a major Fortune 100 company. After two telephone interviews, reference checks and a Skype session, the owner said that he wanted to interview me in person. He assured me that I was one of the top three people (for two positions) and that they were seriously considering me, but he wouldn't feel comfortable moving forward without meeting face-to-face. Understanding this, I made the commitment and purchased two tickets to fly back to DC. The interview went well but - long story short - they did not hire me. They hired my two competitors. I was crushed, but I moved forward. Six months later, I've relocated to DC after finishing my internship in Florida and I see another posting from Classical Movements. I submit my resume again and am quickly contacted by a different person in their office. I gladly set up a time to meet in person in their office again. I met with this new person who had absolutely no idea who I was, even though the owner (with who I had interviewed previously) had filtered resume submissions. My interview with this new person went very well, I was tested on language ability and we had a great discussion about how my prior work would mesh with Classical Movements. I left and followed up with an email Thank You note. I interviewed with them on April 29th and waited until May 9th to follow-up on the position. On May 15th, I get an email from yet another employee in the office stating that they "enjoyed meeting [me] and liked [me]" but they were too "swamped" with work at the moment to make an offer to anyone. As ludicrous as that statement sounds, I politely followed up informing them that I had been offered a three month work contract abroad. I was told to go ahead and take that, but contact them when I am back un the US. So I did. Fast forward to the end of July - I am about to return to the United States, so I email Classical Movements to touch base about the position and see if it is still open. Lo and behold, the position is still open, but they are still unable to make anyone an offer because they're so busy. I am told to contact them again around the middle of August. So, of course, the middle of August rolls around and after about five more email exchanges I get an answer: they're promoting the intern instead. So, after stringing me along for 6 months the second time and coercing me to waste over $500 the first time (which, as an intern, I really didn't have to spare), I am utterly dismayed at the lack of organization at Classical Movements. It seems the people here don't have very high regard for their employees or the people who are interested in working for them, so perhaps I dodged a bullet. I feel completely humiliated and disrespected by this company. Not even having the grace to realize that you have a repeat interviewer - who, by the words of the owner, was being seriously considered - is inexcusable. The entire team here could use a lesson in tact. Don't waster your time applying to this place. The salaries they offer aren't even competitive.
