This interview process happened ahead of Chef's Plate being taken over by HelloFresh, but I feel like anyone who's interviewing at Chef's Plate should be aware of Ian Brooks, CEO of both HelloFresh Canada and Chef's Plate now. I interviewed with him and a number of his team in 2017 and found him to be very off putting. I applied online and was asked to come to Toronto to meet with him and the team. When I arrived, they had me wait for 20 minutes at the front of the office, and when he did take me into the meeting room he refused to sit, or would sit for 20 minutes and then jump up and walk around me while I was in the middle of answering a question. He would randomly interrupt me and would call other team members in to "tag him out". I found the whole process super unprofessional and immediately pulled my name from consideration.
I saw Ian while having dinner with a friend in April, 2019 in Toronto. The way he and his colleagues talked OPENLY about employees at HelloFresh and Chef's Plate made me realize I had absolutely made the right choice in withdrawing from consideration, and also feel bad for anyone currently working there, or considering working there.
Beware: this is an organization run by a man with a huge ego and no room for the opinions of others. I can't speak for the Chef's Plate team, but knowing Ian is CEO of both, I would be very wary of accepting a position here.
