J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez ChatLabs en août 2025

      Entretien

Standard pleasant and professional first interview with an Account Manager diving into background and experience. The second interview with their "CRO" Amy was unlike any other interview I've experienced (CRO is in quotes as that's how she introduced herself, but ChatLabs isn't even listed on her LinkedIn, so it is unclear what her position is). During the interview, she asked some odd questions, including "what do your parents do for a living", "what was your upbringing like", and "where did you grow up". As she pressed for more specifics regarding what exact area/neighborhood I grew up in, it became clear to me that she was trying to determine my family's socioeconomic status. She also asked me directly, "how much were you making in your previous role", which violates employment law in both the city and state we live in. I didn't realize this at the time, so I told her my base + bonus breakdown, and her response was to chuckle to herself and say "well you know how competitive the job market is now, and that's a lot to expect from a small start up". I will also add that they did not list the pay range on their job posting (which is also in violation of state employment law), so I'm not sure what they were willing to pay for this role even after two interviews. Aside from Amy's odd and inappropriate questions about my parent's wealth, she also mentioned that she currently is a CRO at three different companies, including this one, which I also found to be strange (and maybe this is why she is not transparent about where she works on her LinkedIn). After the interview, I received no follow up email. I also reached out to the CEO who had messaged me on LinkedIn encouraging me to interview for the role and described my strange interview experience, and he never responded. I felt like I should let him know how his employee is conducting herself (especially considering she was violating the law with her question about my prior salary) as this could put his company at risk of a lawsuit, however it seems he is cosigning this behavior.

      Question 1

What do your parents do for a living? How much were you making in your previous role? Where are you from? What neighborhood did you grow up in? Where did you go to high school? What are your friends like and how would they describe you?
