The interview was a placement through my internship program at Sacred Heart University. I had a meeting with my mentor teacher, asked questions to determine compatibility and arranged to be placed as a co-teacher.

The chair of the English department and assistant principle interviewed me. The chair asked some good questions. However, the overall approach to the interview was challenging, and arguably ineffective. There was no introduction or overview about the school, the position and the goals of the department and leadership. Most questions were ones that I would have asked them, such as, what to do if a student skips class but is in school? Or how many final draft writing assignments (500 words or more) per month would I assign? Or how to assess students beyond particular assignments that can be more subjective? The last question, I retorted, depends on student backgrounds, previous records of testing and performance with other teachers, determination of special needs and so on—all of which hinge on the organization of the school’s records and level of technology integration.
