      Entretien

I recently completed the interview process for a UX/UI designer position, and while there were definite highlights, I feel compelled to share both the positives and areas for improvement. The Process Structure The interview consisted of four rounds: Initial conversation with the hiring manager Discussion with the UX/UI design team Design task assignment Final interview with the Product Manager What Went Well The first few rounds were genuinely impressive! The team seemed enthusiastic about my portfolio, case studies, and professional background. The conversations were engaging, and I felt a genuine connection with the company's vision. I truly enjoyed these initial interactions and could envision myself thriving in this environment. Areas Needing Significant Improvement Unfortunately, the final round revealed concerning communication gaps: Scheduling Confusion: While I confirmed availability for the following week, I did not receive a formal calendar invite. Then, just one hour before the interview, scheduled an hour earlier than agreed. This short notice created unnecessary stress and a lack of preparedness on both ends. Misaligned Expectations: It was mentioned in the task that the final round would be a presentation of that work. I prepared to present my design task as instructed, but the final interview followed a completely different format without any prior notification. Concerning Interview Approach: The product manager prefaced our conversation by stating it was "just a get-to-know-each-other call," but she didn’t ask questions related to my background or the submitted task; instead proceeded to ask technical design questions without having a basic understanding of design principles. There was a lack of engagement and empathy. frankly, it felt robotic and dismissive. Troubling Final Comments: Most concerning was her candid admission that she hadn't been involved in earlier interview stages, with her demeanor clearly suggesting I wouldn't have advanced this far had she been consulted earlier. a deeply unprofessional remark. Final Thoughts In today's competitive job market, candidates invest significant time and energy in interview processes. While the initial rounds showed promise, the final experience left me questioning the company's internal communication and respect for candidates' time. I sincerely hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future applicants. A more cohesive interview process that respects candidates' time and preparation would better reflect what otherwise seems like a promising organisation.
