The STAR interview process is a behavioral interview technique designed to elicit concrete, structured responses. It requires candidates to answer questions by outlining the Situation (context and background), Task (specific challenge or goal), Action (steps personally taken, emphasizing individual contribution), and Result (tangible outcome, supported by metrics where possible). The method forces clarity, avoids vagueness, and reveals decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in real scenarios. It helps interviewers assess past performance as a predictor of future behavior, minimizes rambling, and ensures key competencies are demonstrated with evidence rather than generalities.
Applied online, in person interview at a conference. Got offer 3 weeks later. Very chill interview. Encouraged STAR method for answers to the questions. Lots of questions, probably around 10. No technical questions.
