J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Capco

      Entretien

The process was unbelievably drawn out - I passed the phone screen at the end of September, asked to complete a coding test 2-3 weeks later, then a technical interview 2 weeks after that. And an extra week waiting for feedback. A two-month-long process in which I was interviewed for about 50 minutes total. Phone screen was simple enough, answered questions about my background and why I want to work for Capco, really quite straight forward. I was then told to complete a programming test which is fine, however, the one I was initially sent was a Javascript, HTML/CSS test. The job posting I responded too had Java and Python listed on it. Javascript was nowhere to be seen. I completed the js test anyway and noticed another one in the Github repository they were stored on which was python so completed that as well so I didn't get screwed over by an HR mixup. The tests were fairly straightforward, probably took about an hour or so each to complete. I should note I did message HR to try and clarify what test I should complete but heard nothing. I then had a technical interview. My technical interviewer was unprepared and noticeably jaded, which is entirely understandable during times of corona. She said she hadn't conducted any interviews where people had completed tests prior. To add to this she did not know Python. We went through my code and I explained what it did, and she asked me a few things about it which were vague and unclear. I also talked about my previous technical work. It was really just a low energy and poorly organised interview. To top it all off the feedback I received was that I was an excellent communicator but failed the technical portion of the interview! How could I possibly be assessed fairly by someone who does not know the programming language I had written my program in. That's like going for a Spanish translator interview and your interviewer only knows German. I've come out of it knowing Capco isn't for me! It was a long drawn out and unpleasant process, getting news about my application from HR was like drawing blood from a stone. Often two or three emails would be needed before I'd hear anything. Honestly I'd rather be ghosted than go through that again!

We are sorry to hear about your experience interviewing for the Associate Engineering Programme, not only for the time it took which is certainly not the standard for our process, but also for the lack of communication throughout. Unfortunately we had a change in team member supporting the Engineering Programme and it seems that this caused a delay in the handover. However, we apologise as this delay should have been explained to you at the time. With regards to the technical interview, again we are sorry to hear that you felt that your interview experience was not at the standard that it should be. All of our technical interviewers are not only trained in interviewing, but also have subject matter expertise in this area in order to make an informed decision. We do appreciate that a fully remote interview process can be challenging, and for that reason, we have introduced additional training for our team members to address this. The team has been made aware of your review so that this does not happen again and if you would like to discuss further, you can reach out to joanne.lee@capco.com who manages the UK recruitment team.
