They call my company which is an IR/HR firm and pretended to be a client. The Managing director fake an accent and gave me a fake name. They would spin a tall tell on how desperate they are in hiring you and try to convince you they will do anything to hire you.
The interview process -- Met the General Manager at a coffee shop and he would go on and on hard selling his company to me. And how good it is and so on and so forth. The interview was too easy and they agreed to buy me out right on the spot which was odd and unusual.
I played along as I see no harm and it ended the way I expected. I offer to do a formal interview with him at his office to confirm that his company is real. After I met them, I was ask a series of questions that no prospective employers would ask. Questions include how many employers are currently in my office, my company's revenue, my boss' name. I only gave him my immediate superior's name and nothing else. I lied about the rest as I figure out their ruse. I did not confront them as I see no point starting an awkward situation.
Shortly after I left, I texted the manager explaining to him that I no longer wish to be contacted as it was a ruse from the beginning. Since they were willing to use such underhanded tactics I figure they should be proud of what they do, thus I am sharing it with everyone.
