Today’s date- Jan.18.2019
I first applied through the careers section on their website Jan.8 for their retail sales associate and Retail lead-Customer Service positions... I didn’t think much of it to be quite honest with you and honestly was just getting a head start with applying there since I’m an hour drive away and planning to move feb.1 and would’ve gone in, in person to apply...
Jan.15 I received an unexpected call which made me happy that they actually looked at my profile and on the phone was what I’m assuming was a pre screening to see what kind of person I am and if I’m still interested in the positions and why I applied for the positions. Talked a bit about my previous work experience and she was more interested in why I applied for a lead position and if I had any prior experience being a lead which I had informally. She invited me to come in for an in person interview and considered that I was coming from out of town but I just so happen to have errand to run up there the following date so we both agreed to book me in for an interview the next day!
Jan.16 I was feeling pretty confident in myself and was constantly telling myself if I don’t get this, I still have time to continue my job hunt when I get move next month... I was handed an application to fill out from the front desk, was simple, asked what dates you are available for, full time or part time, if you were told to obtain a PAL/RPAL, would you be able to, from 1-4 what position would you prefer, etc... first interview was with a nice manager for front desk and he was more interested in asking me what lead positions I did... again, it was very informal lead work so I told him that and how I like taking initiative...he was super easy to talk to and was young (mid 20s) and after that, he wanted me to meet with another manager, she was also super nice and the questions she asked were pretty much the same but worded different so I just worded my answers different hehe. In total it was about 30 min with the first guy and 15 with the lass, I asked her when I would hear back if I was to potentially be hired and she said in around one or two weeks due to other applicants.. When I heard that I felt bleh..
Jan.17 I received a call back from her saying she would like me to meet the store manager! I eagerly accepted and scheduled that for the following day.
Jan.18 I met with the store manager, super nice man and he himself was more focused on knowing my past history on lead... same but more informal since he didn’t have a sheet to read from... he finalized the interview with telling me he would love to have me on as a back room lead/supervisor and explained a bit about that role... and I was surprised I got that! Being 20 and given a lead position is great and was happy that they would even consider that for me! But it’s currently “tentative” since they just need to do a background check (criminal record) but my past two jobs had the same and I know for a fact I’ll be clear and then once they get the results I’ll start training!
