I went through three rounds of job interviews. The first was a phone call with a recruiter, and then I had two interviews with different team members. Each of these technical interviews lasted about an hour and a half and included some technical questions, but the people interviewing me were mostly product owners, developers, and project managers, not designers. In the final round, I was unexpectedly asked to create wireframes for a concept they provided, which surprised me and felt disrespectful because I wasn’t prepared for that. After the last round, I waited almost two weeks for feedback and received a standard rejection email, without any replies to my emails. This felt dismissive, especially given the time and effort I put into the process. Also, the pay was quite low compared to the market.
On a personal note, I currently have a mother with cancer, and the time I spent on this job search caused us to miss her appointments.
