Disappointing Experience with BrowserStack HR via CareerNet
I’d like to share my unwelcoming and unprofessional experience during an exploratory call for an engineering manager role at BrowserStack, coordinated through CareerNet.
After being approached by CareerNet, I was asked to submit answers to a set of behavioral questions and provide an updated resume tailored to the job description. Despite a busy work schedule, I invested significant time in preparing thoughtful responses and revising my resume accordingly.
The call was scheduled with an HR representative from BrowserStack named Amrin. The slot was fixed for 3:45 PM to 4:00 PM on a working day. However, I waited for over 10 minutes after joining the call—only for Amrin to join at 3:56 PM. She casually mentioned she got caught up in a phone call and forgot about the scheduled interview.
Despite this, I proceeded to answer her generic "Tell me about yourself" question and summarized my career journey over the next 2–3 minutes. At exactly 3:59 PM, she abruptly ended the call, saying she had all the information she needed and would get back to me.
I never received any follow-up or feedback neither from BrowserStack nor CareerNet. Weeks later, when I followed up with CareerNet, they informed me that they hadn't received any feedback either.
This kind of experience reflects a disappointing lack of professionalism. If the intention was to reject a candidate, it could have been done respectfully without wasting time, effort, and energy. Creating an illusion of interest, asking for detailed write-ups, and then ghosting the candidate is misleading and disrespectful.
To HR professional: If you’re not genuinely interested in a candidate, don’t initiate the process. Respect their time as much as you expect yours to be respected.
