The process was long and drawn out. I had to come in five times to meet with different people and teach a class. They were very positive and all but told me I had it. Then they went radio silent, I emailed them several times, and finally heard a very perfunctory email about the position no longer being available. Not very Christlike behavior… lol

Included a campus visit, meeting with the Dean, teaching a lesson, faculty meeting...The meeting with the Dean involved being lectured about Christian fundamentalism. Much emphasis was placed on finding out about my commitment to a Christian institution. It was very clear from the beginning that my personal life and choices could affect employment eligibility. I also had the impression that I was not the main candidate. Everybody was friendly and attentive but at moments seemed disconnected, as if I was there just in case their first choice would not work out. I received a polite email about their final decision. My major disappointment was that not much feedback was provided, which is the standard, but for an institution that claims to be above others based on Christian values, I perceived it as a lack of transparency. My brief impression of the students was excellent. They were engaged and respectful. I also think that within the faculty there are good relations and mutual support.
