This was the most awkward conversation with a recruiter that I've ever had. From the start, he didn't seem interested in selling the company or the role. He brusquely asked for my marital status, twice! "Are you married or single?" And he asked if I have any children. I was tempted to ask "how is that relevant for this position?" but played along. He wanted to know if I rent or own (understandable but not needed in an exploratory first conversation) and then he brusquely asked if I would need relocation assistance or if I can move to NYC on my own. He did make it sound like they are just looking for Python programmers, not data scientists or statisticians.
