Meet with HR representative and then the manger of the lab. The HR representative tested me and then referred me to a lab that she saw fit for me. That's when I met with the lab's manager for a verbal interview.

My friend handed in my resume to her manager. I got a call from her the same day, and we scheduled a interview for the very next morning. I was first given a tour of the lab, and was told what I would be doing if I got the job. Then, we sat down in her office and she asked me general questions. I had a lot of relevant experience to the job, so I was not asked about my skills or my resume. She told me I would hear back in 2 weeks. I heard back in 2 days from HR, and they gave me a job offer the next day. It's an unfortunate reality that even in today's day and age, you need to use connections to get a job, but you have to. I've been trying for 3 months on my own and no luck. Your experience might not be the same as mine since you usually first go through HR and then speak to the lab manager, but it was the opposite for me. Good luck to anyone looking for jobs.
