      While communication was polite and transparent, it was slower than expected, and the interview process overall left a lot to be desired. The technical task was excessively labor-intensive, especially considering it met the outlined requirements yet was rejected for a trivial reason. Rejecting a candidate over a version choice of Next.js—without any attempt to understand the rationale—is neither constructive nor a meaningful assessment of technical skill. Evaluating a developer should hinge on their ability to understand concepts, solve problems, and structure code effectively, not on a superficial criterion like JavaScript library versions, which often follow the same core principles. To make matters worse, GitHub Insights revealed that the evaluator barely examined the repository, despite the supposed rigor of their evaluation metrics. Given this, I question the company’s commitment to fair and thorough evaluation and their respect for candidates' time and effort. In short, I would strongly advise candidates against spending more than a minimal amount of time on this company's technical assessment, as the process appears both arbitrary and dismissive. My experience suggests they may lack the will or ability to evaluate talent in a way that respects the substantial efforts candidates invest.

      Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us - sadly, negative ones. We treat it as a lesson learned and we will do our best to make each subsequent recruitment experience just better. Referring to your review, we agree that task feedback could be longer. This is something we will try not to repeat in future feedback. As for the substantive aspect behind the reason for rejection, we still maintain our opinion. At Bejamas, we strive to lead in web development by following best and latest practices. We seek for employees who bring both the skills and mindset that align with these standards. In this instance, our decision wasn’t based on a specific library version but rather on the use of outdated Next.js techniques that didn’t reflect the current knowledge we prioritize. The solution relied on technology that was common a few years ago; however, as the tech industry evolves, so do our standards. We’re committed to maintaining high standards in everything we do, and for that reason, we look for candidates who meet these criteria. Again thank you for your time and interest in working with us.
