Applied for Automation QA Engineer role via an external recruiter in May 2022. The Job spec asked for experience in tech x or y I knew x.
The 1st stage interview went well I explained to the interviewer that I didn’t know tech y and he was happy with this.
Passed the 1st stage interview and was sent the coding challenge. The coding challenge was in tech y which I wasn’t familiar with so surprisingly I failed the tech challenge.
So BT where asking for experience in tech x or y (to get a bigger pool of potential applicants) but really they wanted you to have experience in tech y
