I really enjoyed the whole process. It started with a written assignment - I needed to write two short articles. One was a short economic forecast for the US and another was an analysis of the industries that are expected to outperform in the emerging economies. I was invited for an interview a week later. I met with head of the department and one of my potential colleagues. The atmosphere was quite relaxed. We were talking about my background and interests. I switched the topic and focused on my sector so I think I covered all their questions quite quickly. The whole conversation was really interesting and I got an impression I could learn a lot from these people. The interview was followed by a short written assignment focusing on my sector. There was some data available and I was allowed to use the internet, however, I think that if you are not interested in the industry and don't have a basic understanding of relevant issues, one hour may not be enough to write it. If you come prepared and you are really interested in this role, you will most probably find this stage relatively easy. I was invited to a final interview two weeks later and I met with head of the department and head of research. This stage was also quite relaxing. They were asking me again about my interests, background and how I would analyse certain information. Surprisingly, there were no industry-specific questions. I felt like I did not prepare that well for this stage, however I was really happy to hear I was successful.
