My first interaction consisted of a phone call to schedule the interview. For the most part, the transition from an applicant to an interviewee was a normal experience. The administrative assistant was more informal than I expected, but I did not think that was an issue. After some time in their waiting area, I was guided to a room and interviewed by two mid-level professionals. The dynamic was fairly casual and the questions seemed to either be cliche situational ones or abstract impractical ones. I was asked several times if I had consulting experience, even though my experience was clearly outlined on my resume. The interviewers appeared uninterested in my background and what experience I had, and seemed to focus the interview on a rigid checklist of qualities they were looking for in a surprising mechanical way. I was also asked about where my motivation for promoting the public interest originated. I thought it was a strange question, and was slightly offended by it. Ultimately, the quality of one's past experience speaks for itself. BCT Partners never contacted me after the interview, which aligned with what I could tell was a pattern of unprofessionalism.
