Had a phone interview with HR, really lovely and casual discussion. Was then interviewed by the area manager and had a chat about the role, team/work culture, the company, etc. Casual, friendly, seemed like they were testing out to see if I was a good fit mostly.

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Avis Budget Group (Washington, DC) en oct. 2011

      Entretien

The very first time I applied with Avis, was online back in July 2011. Once my info was submitted I received a call the very next day, from their human resources’ office to review and verify all the information that was submitted online and to conduct an over phone interview. After doing so, the man told me “at this present time we have no available appointments for you to come in and interview at this time”. So I said, oh ok. It wasn’t until the end of September 2011 that I received a call from a human resource repetitive, asking was I still interested in a Customer service position. I told her yes until she told me where it was, which was in Philadelphia. Once she told me that I told her, that’s ok, never mind. The Rep told me to call within seven to ten business days to see if the locations could be switched. After a day or two and many phone calls to their office to see if the location could switch to another closer location to me, in another state mind you, they told me no, I would have to reapply and start the whole process again. After starting the whole process again, I applied for two positions instead of one. The first one was the Customer Service and the 2nd one was Rental Sales Position. I called the corporate number to conduct a on the phone interview for the CSR position. Since I applied for two position, she told me I could do only one interview on the phone at a time. So I had to call back the next day to conduct the RSP interview on the phone. For the RS position I had to do two on the phone interview and a personality test online. Finally, after 3-4 days of the phone interview, I was schedule to come to have a 1:1 interview for the CSR position. After taking the online personality test, about 2 days later, I received another phone call to have a 1:1 interview for the RS position. On both phone calls, the HR rep told me to arrive 30 min before my scheduled appointment and to bring two copies of my résumé and something to write with, just in case I had any information to write down during the interview. The day of the interview, I arrived 30 min early as requested. A young lady greeted me and asked if I need any help? I told her yes, I was there for an interview. She asked me who doing my interview, I told her I wasn’t for sure, the Avis HR rep didn’t give me that information, all they gave me was the time and location. The young lady went to the back and returned telling me to have a seat and someone would be with me momentarily. After 5-10 later, I was greeted by a woman telling me what was going to happen during the interview process. I asked her if I could have two applications, because I had two interviews at the same location for two different on the same day. She told me the manager would conduct both interview at the same time and to just fill out one application. At first sight, the application looks really thick. However the first two sheets were basic application info. The next two sheets were your basic check yes or no questions about your driving records/ background information. After filling out the application, I was escorted into the back to speak with station manager. After greeting me, she told me that she wasn’t expecting me, nor prepared to conduct a 12:00 clock interview. Well, thanks be to God, that I listened and printed out my conformation info that was sent to me by email, which I gave to her. Never the least she conducted the interview for the RS position. She basically asked about every job that I ever had in the past 10 years even if it wasn’t on my resume. She really wanted to know what sales experience that I had. After 10 min the Sales Manager was asked to sit in on the interview. He asked me some basic questions and told me about what options I had as far as pay, which was either base pay with commission or 13.00 hr. I told him base pay + commission. He asked me why, I told him because of the earning potential. After talking back and forth to both of them, out of know where she ask me to sale her my necklace, I said ok and started telling her some basic things about the necklace and why she should buy it. Another conversing back and forth, she said I like your style and smiled. Overall I think the hiring manager was very straight forward, all she really wanted to know if you could do the sales job or not. After all was said and done I was offered the position and asked to take a urine test by the following day.
