      Entretien

The interview process was smooth and easy. I began the process with a phone interview and then transitioned to an in-person interview. The parties I talked with were detailed oriented and followed up with the background checks.

      Entretien

The Panel interview was scheduled 1 week in advance with three directors from various departments and it took place via video conference. I had one final in-person interview with a faculty member with who became direct supervisor, the on-ground contact for the college at the university at this campus. Fair question related to the role to gauge my experience, clear expectations, thorough conversation and a full hour each interview.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Are you available for weekend programming? Do you have experience recruiting? Are you a self-starter? What is your ideal work environment? What networks could you tap into for brand visibility and recruitment? Do you have experience with a startup/new initiative?

I was quite shocked to read such positive interview reviews for ASU. My experience was frustrating. I work in a specialty field, and at this point, I'm pretty well qualified in my specialty. I have a lot of corporate experience under my belt, but I also have prior experience in higher education. I feel I was very sincere when I told my group of interviewers that I genuinely wanted to work in higher education again. I don't know how much clearer/nicer I could have been about that! It's the truth - I'm tired of the nonsense that goes on in the corporate world! As it turns out, higher education (at least at ASU) is really just as "corporate" as the corporate world! It's awfully hypocritical of the hiring manager, who I know for a fact has prior "corporate" experience, to turn around and basically tell me that I'm too qualified for the job I applied to. It's safe for me to assume that the hiring manager is "overqualified" for their own role given their past corporate experience. If I was so over-qualified, why even bring me in to interview? My qualifications are clearly outlined on my resume. If this is just a matter of me not being "liked" or not being seen as a fit, I would have preferred to receive no response at all. I feel this whole "over-qualified" nonsense was nothing more than a hypocritical cop-out. Of course, this was my experience with ONE department. Maybe I'd have a better experience with another one, but I'd go into it with caution.
