This was probably the worst phone interview I've ever had in my life. I was excited to actually be considered for the position (I had applied on a whim in April during the height of the pandemic, not expecting companies to be hiring). I had expectations that the conversation would be as engaging as the company portrayed itself to be. I was first contacted by an assistant to schedule a time for a phone interview. The phone call was led by a manager who sounded like a frat boy fresh out of college, completely uninterested in my experience and what I had to say. He was more interested in how much I wanted to get paid which I politely responded to with "i'd like to learn more about the role before discussing that". I was basically interviewing him. He was to be the person the position reports to, so during the conversation I expected there to be more of a dialogue, and it felt like he had no clue what the role I applied for would be contributing to the company. It also seemed as though the position had a recent title change, and he was clueless about that as well. Oh, and I could barely understand him because he sounded like he was in a basement and had me on speakerphone the whole time. So I was pretty much talking to myself; that may explain why I've now been ghosted. Handy has so many job openings and I see why. Why would anyone want to work with miserable, condescending co-workers and bosses? They need to get it together.
