Applicants are given the opportunity to attend a face to face interview to get a real sense of the environment and team they will be working with. Feedback I have received from candidates is that all staff at Amberleigh are friendly, welcoming and put you at ease if you are feeling stressed about the interview. The questions allow the Managers to get a good insight into your understanding or the role and the young people the work with, as well as your core values. Questions are asked in a simple way so as not to be confusing and to allow the applicant the best opportunity to sell themselves effectively. Following the meeting with the managers, applicants are asked questions by a young person living at Amberleigh. This along with lunch with the young people following the interview, is a great opportunity for all applicants to have a full and clear picture of the role, as well as giving all the young people a chance to interact. It's an excellent idea and more companies should put this into place, in line with the Quality standard detailing the children's views, wishes and feelings who should have a say in who cares for them.
