      Entretien

I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter, with whom I had a short phone screen to discuss my experience, when I would be available to start, and salary requirements. I gave her the information she asked for and she found it acceptable. I even made sure to ask if my salary was within the range for this role and she said yes. I then interviewed in person for about 2 hours. The first hour was with two different hiring managers and the second hour was with members of the team. The first hiring manager was dressed in super short shorts without any type of stockings underneath which was the first red flag as I don't find butt cheeks hanging out to be professional attire. The second hiring manager rambled about her own experience for most of the interview, so I hardly got a word in edgewise despite trying to navigate the conversation back to a formal interview and not a chit-chat session. Red flag #2, a hiring manager who would rather talk about herself than get to know her potential employees. The last hour consisted of interview questions from three members of the team. Two of the three members of the team couldn't even be bothered to show up to the office and instead were working from home and dialed in, despite the interview being set up 2 weeks in advance. The two employees who were working from home were very clearly not paying attention because they had to be reminded that it was "their turn to talk" on multiple occasions. Their "interview" consisted of a round-robin style of asking "tell me about a time when you" questions that were listed on a piece of paper and very clearly printed from some generic website because half of them were repetitive or didn't apply to the Recruiter I role. The two employees who were working from home provided no feedback whatsoever to my answers, simply saying "Oh, okay, your turn XXXXX". That is, when they were paying attention. Sometimes they didn't even notice when I was done speaking. I followed up with thank you emails and received acknowledgment from 1 of the 5 employees I emailed. When I asked for team feedback from the recruiter on my interview, I was told my salary requirements were too high and that I had too much experience. Then why interview me and waste my time in the first place? I felt as though my time was absolutely wasted, as I had laid out my experience and salary requirements in the initial phone screen and said I was not willing to take a decrease in order to change jobs. I also felt completely disrespected, as the two employees who were working from home quite obviously did not care whatsoever to hear what I had to say, and neither did the hiring manager who talked about herself the whole time. The interview process left a horrible taste in my mouth and really marred my impression of AmTrust Financial as a whole. I also noticed that the position is still open as I am writing this review, 5 months after my interview. Clearly the recruiting and hiring manager teams are doing something wrong if they can't fill an entry-level recruiting role within half a year. As an experienced recruiter, this interview process was a textbook example of what NOT to do - don't disrespect your candidates, don't waste their time, be transparent, answer them, treat them how you'd like to be treated. Of course, I didn't receive an offer as they couldn't match my salary and my experience was over-qualified, but to be honest even if they would've offered me 10% more than I was currently making I still would not have accepted due to how abhorrent the interviews and team were.
