I applied online. Got email from HR to schedule phone call. Questions on background and experience with Java and Big Data tools. They are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience in Java, Hadoop and other Big Data tools. I was not considered for further rounds since I do not have practical experience with Java and Big Data tools.

      Entretien

Very unprofessional! I had a phone screening as my first round and then was called for on-site interview. I agreed on the afternoon time they suggested for the interview. I planned days ahead for this interview. I get an email in the morning from the HR confirming the interview timing and then within half hour she emails back to ask if this interview can be scheduled for another day and this was just 3hrs before the interview. I was like I took a day off for this interview and then she had to go back and forth with the manager who was asking this interview to be rescheduled so that he could accommodate a client. However, they worked out something and made the earlier set appointment work. Next round was a video interview with the same manager who was trying to reschedule the first meeting. But 1 hour before the video interview, I get an email from the HR asking if I will be available for a 1 on 1 interview with the Chief Digital Officer. I was confused because I thought that would be the last round and I thought that would be scheduled after the video interview round provided I did well in this round. I just told her maybe not this week but next week maybe. Then I didn't want to think more into this request because I wanted be more focused on the upcoming video interview. So I was all set with my system and in a quiet room only to know the video interview round had been cancelled 40mins before the set time. Again, I had planned my day around this interview. I was never given any explanation for why that video interview was cancelled. However, now they wanted me to come to their office AGAIN for a 1 on 1. I didn't want to go because I was sure I didn't want to take a day off(I worked in the suburbs and this job was in downtown Chicago) for this and then next thing I know they cancel the interview. So I insisted on a video interview so even if they cancelled I don't lose my time travelling. While I was negotiating for a video interview, which btw the hiring manager said was possible , the HR sent me a passive aggressive email which implied they could find someone else and I am not the only applicant. Anyway the HR came through and set the video interview appointment. Cut to the day of video interview, the Chief Digital Officer doesn't show up for the video interview. The HR can't find him wither. Then she somehow tracks him down and he joins the video call 30mins late and takes a 20min interview which was initially told to be 1hour long. Also while he was asking me questions I could see him making gestures to someone who was in his cubicle but not visible to me. His reason for not getting on the call on time, was working on important stuff with clients. Also HR told mem he was well aware of the interview time with me. I get that clients run the business but you can't take somebody else's time especially a potential candidate's time for granted. Overall, a very bad and unprofessional experience. Also after the video interview which was on a Wednesday, HR told me they would get back to me with an answer by end of week or early next week, it is now past 12 days. A hiring process talks volumes about how they would treat their employees and this company for sure doesn't value anyone.

How many windows are there in NYC? They didn't expect a number but more about the thought process.
