      Entretien

I was hired as a Marketing Rep two weeks ago. The interview process was actually quick and painless. I went in and sat down with one of the regional managers and we chatted for a half-hour. Standard conversation openers were "Tell me about yourself and how your background relates to this job." No weird or off the wall questions and the interviewer did most of the talking. The manger was very professional and he seemed eager to hire me.

      Entretien

This whole company is a scam when it comes to interviewing and hiring. I applied for the position of marketing representative, which had maybe a 2 sentence description. The HR person contacted me and we set up at interview. After going online and reading reviews, I realized that this may be a sales position, which while there is nothing wrong with, did not match the job title or description. I emailed the HR person and asked specifically if the position was sales and if it was salaried or commission only. She emailed me back and said it was marketing, not sales and that the position was not commission only. I believed her and went in for the interview, which turned out to be a group presentation just like the reviews said, with someone pitching the position to us. A guy in the group told her this sounded like sales and the lady got offended and told him no it’s not sales, it’s marketing. Okay...she continues to tell us there is no pay for training, and the position is 99% commission, no base salary at all. The woman completely lied to me and I filled out that dumb questionaire they give you at the end of the presentation saying I was disappointed I was lied to. The HR person emailed me back basically calling me a liar...that left me with such a bad taste for the company

I was invited to come to the office in Chicago. I was then sat in a room with several other people. Someone from the company came and talked to us about the position. Even though all of us interviewing were led to believe it was a marketing position, they essentially were looking for sales people to sell their product to businesses. The position listed online included no mention of this, and I think we all felt a little blind sided. They didn't ask us any questions, just explained what the role actually was. Whole process took maybe 20 minutes. If you're looking for a 100% commission based sales role, this might be for you. If not, steer clear.

I am only writing this review as I wish something similar would have been posted when I applied for the "Marketing Representative" position. Basically, any position at Aflac is sales - maybe some people would say this is a given but I did not know that and certainly wasted time and money "interviewing" today. I say "interviewing" because you will be put into a room of about 15 people and someone will pitch why it is so great to work at Aflac. The job is 100% commission based and unpaid training spans several weeks long. If you are an excellent salesperson then yes, this would be a great opportunity for you. However, the lack of transparency about the job position really put me off for ever working with Aflac or recommending it to anyone I know. If it's a sales jobs, say sales...marketing and sales are different.
