Started with a quick call with the hiring manager. Standard first call - explain the position and my background.
Second step was to do a practical - basically just build an application and show you know how to be a software developer. It was over the holidays, so more time was given to work on it.
Third was a technical interview. The hiring team and I basically just went over what I have experience with and what I have done at previous jobs. We also discussed how I solve certain situations that come up regularly as a SWE.
Last was the behavioral interview with questions about how I work on a team, how I communicate, etc.
Overall, great interview experience! Practicals/take home assignments are my preferred way to do the technical portion of an interview, rather than a live coding challenge. To me, it is a sign of good hiring practice.
