      Entretien

A deeply unprofessional and uncomfortable interview experience at ASV Wadeson, Cheltenham. I recently had an interview at ASV Wadeson in Cheltenham, and it was an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience. Upon arrival, the receptionist handed me a paper form asking for my employment details and personal information, much of which was already covered in my resume and cover letter. One of the questions on the form was about my marital status, which I found odd and irrelevant to the role. When I met the manager, it quickly became apparent that she had no idea why I was called in for the interview in the first place. She repeatedly mentioned that I did not have the qualifications they were seeking and barely glanced at my resume, leading me to question why I was invited to interview at all. She admitted that this was her first time seeing my resume and that the receptionist was responsible for the hiring decisions, which immediately struck me as highly unprofessional. The rest of the interview was uncomfortable, to say the least. The manager asked me multiple times where I saw myself in a few years, despite my consistent answers. It felt as though my responses weren’t being taken seriously or listened to. She also focused heavily on the fact that I had changed jobs frequently. I explained that I had been a full-time student and was only able to work seasonal or contract positions during university breaks, yet she seemed unsatisfied with this explanation, even though the job-hopping was beyond my control. She was also confused about which role I applied for, asking why I applied for the receptionist position—when in fact, I had applied for an office administration role, a position for which I have years of relevant experience. Despite my qualifications, she insinuated that I was unqualified for the role. What truly made the experience worse were the inappropriate and discriminatory questions she asked during the interview. She inquired about my religion, relationship, and even the race of my partner—topics that are not only irrelevant but also likely in violation of anti-discrimination laws. She also made personal remarks about a former employee’s race, religion, and relationship, which felt highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Overall, the interview felt like a bizarre nightmare, leaving me feeling uncomfortable and upset. I want to share this review as a caution to others considering interviewing with this company. If the interview process was this bad, I can only imagine what it would be like to work there.
