      Entretien

After a pretty easy (but lengthy) online form, there are some online numerical and verbal reasoning tests to complete online. These are pretty easy again but made difficult due to the time pressure. After this there is an online video interview, there is lots of info on here about the questions you have to answer. The two that I can remember are: 'What's you're greatest achievement?' and 'Why are you proud of this?' At the assessment day there were only 8 of us, which surprised me as I'd read there were often up to 30 candidates. We had to do a group exercise about selecting a candidate for a job. You have 10 mins to read the CV's and put forward you're reasons for selecting that candidate. It's quite time pressured. My strong advice would be to gloss over the details of the role and really concentrate on matching the required competencies to the skills of the candidates as this is really what the assessor wants to talk about. Be pro-active, as the assessor purposefully won't give you much guidance when you have to pitch as a group and will be looking to see who takes the lead and who sits back. You will fill in a feedback form on the other candidates 'who took the lead?', 'who made the best points', 'who managed the time', 'who paid the most attention to the feelings of others', you then rate the other candidates from 1-10. then a presentation of 1 of 5 areas, drawn at random. Make sure you time yourself (you can use your phone) 1 customer behaviour 2 Aldi stock range (excluding special buys) 3 special buys 4 Till operation 5 store layout I found out these topics on here before hand and had already make a presentation on each but was surprised that a couple of people were making it up on the day. Do your research and be specific, as you will be asked questions. Also, MAKE SURE YOU SPEAK TO PEOPLE IN STORE (ideally the store manager and a few customers) as you will be asked about this and look like a numpty if you haven't, as a couple of people did on my day. Visit a couple of stores (rather than the 1) as this also looks good. That was it. Don't be put off by the bad reviews on here, this was my 1st ever interview/ assessment centre and it was fine. I thought it went really well and was disappointed not to progress but it was a well run day in my opinion. The assessor was pleasant, although she did go into 'grilling mode' at some points but only as part of the process. Good luck. As a hint, anything you can do to go above and beyond and show you've done you're research will be viewed as a good thing. Be prepared to defend you're points when questioned and don't be too pushy/ dominant, it's not the apprentice. All the candidates on the day were great and we worked well together I thought.

Application was straight forward Video interview was around 6 questions with one minute to think and one minute to record Online test were easier than most jobs on Penn resources- numerical, reading and pattern. Assessment Centre was two hours we discussed a topic for our store walk: Competitor analysis, branding and merchandise, Corporate social responsibility. Then we were given 4 CVs to read and select the best one based off skills, location, feedback. then I had the final interview: CV screening, I was asked who were therein stakeholders in my life, how I would deal with demands of the job ect

Overly lengthy application process. They are looking for a very particular individual regardless of technical experience or capability. If you have a group of people that are not particularly capable, It is almost impossible to do the group exercise properly without coming across as overbearing.
