Waste of time. Shut me down and ended the interview after asking my salary expectations, which were about 15% higher than their salary bands. They then wouldn't allow the conversation to go any further even when I explained that it is not a crucial factor for me for the right role and I would be happy to reduce my expectation.
If salary is a hard deal breaker then you should put it in the job advert and allow candidates to decide if the salary is right for them, rather than making people guess what your salary bands are and then cut them off when they guess incorrectly. They have completely wasted my time in applying and preparing for an interview.
