Had a very pleasant video interview with their Executive Assistant in which I was very clear that my primary experience is in Java. She assured me that, though their job requirements list strong experience in C/C#, this is an entry level position and they are mostly looking for someone who can learn. I was invited for an in person interview at their facility in Pittsboro. Upon arrival to the interview, attended by CEO (Dr. Vladislav Oleynik) and CFO (Alex West); Dr. Oleynik did not introduce himself or offer a "nice to meet you." Instead, he began condescendingly tearing down every aspect of my resume and giving me advice on how I could improve it. When presented with an example of my code, Dr. Oleynik looked at only the class variable declarations and stated that the code "looks like soup" because I didn't have a comment over every (very self explanatory) variable. He then went on to explain that Java is a "child's language anyway." Dr. Oleynik argued with me about everything I said and acted in a generally unprofessional manner the entire interview. At one point he stated, "I'm sure you can get a job somewhere, I know McDonalds is hiring." I imagine this behavior is indicative of the company's culture as a whole. At the end of the interview, I asked them about the direction of the company and was given a vague answer about the difficulty of getting such "innovative" technology to market. I would understand if my background is just not what they're looking for, but I don't believe this business will be successful unless they find some direction and learn how to treat people . 1/10 because at least I was offered a water.
