    Avantages

Good teams in the stores, Travis Perkins discount card. Regular customers/Tradesmen. Easy job if you can put up with the management

    Inconvénients

RDP management course waste of time, Higher management is a boys club, Want you to be a robot. Too many procedures( Pick up a pen )

    Conseils à la direction

Treat your staff better and staff turnover wouldn’t be as high as it is. Don’t dangle promotion in front off staff. Get rid of the horse

Je travaille chez Toolstation à temps partiel

    Avantages

    Not being there .
    Not talking about the place.
    Not even thinking about it.

    Inconvénients

    Lazy useless management
    Lack of training
    Put in deep end situations
Covering for people playing sickies so puts pressure on you
No trust or respect for part time staff
    Zero pay for overtime
Verbal abuse to staff and customers.
Doing everything all by yourself without any help
Every time I hear the name on an advert I either laugh at the falseness or cringe.

    Conseils à la direction

Can honestly say this is the worst company I ever worked for . *Cough cough Bracknell
Doesn't matter what advice I give it's not going to fix how profanity you are.

Staff management : Get off your day lazy worthless behinds and actually do some work instead of sending all your staff on the front lines all day, treat your staff with respect, not like something on your shoe to scrape off. And give correct training and right treatment when commitment is there. Respect has to be earned and if you actually earn the right to be a company then you might actually not lose so many employees and get respect back!! Didn't last there long . I left before they had the pleasure. If you like being treated like you're worthless then this is the place for you . Hurry up and get shut down FOOLSTATION!!

    Avantages

None what's so ever at all.

    Inconvénients

No breaks not even the head of HR is bothered. None of the RMs have a clue how to run a busy store. Over worked with terrible pay.

    Conseils à la direction

Get back in the shops and not just for 15 minutes. Until this happens then they will lose the best people. They don't care about you as a person only how good they look as a region on paper.
Promises and lies from the start with absolutely no progression unless your face fits and part of the BIG BOYS club. Stay away at all costs.

Je travaille chez Toolstation à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Finishing a shift and getting out of the hell hole.

    Inconvénients

Despicable place to work. Treated like something on the bottom of a shoe by Regional Managers. Absolute minimum wage for hours worked, procedures are outdated and simply do not work. Customers treat you like you should be an electrician, plumber, builder etc when all we actually are is cashiers regardless of role . Selling cheap and nasty products that more often than not will break easily, or be returned by a customer after they have mis-used it and broke it but the no questions return policy forbids us from refusing even though can clearly see what's happened. Unrealistic monthly store targets in terms of sales, especially if your store is located in stupid out of town area. Force you to book all your allocated annual leave by the end of January each year or they will assign it for you leaving you no holiday to plan things with partners/family. Contact Centre staff work from script and more often than not give you wrong solutions to a problem which causes aggro in store from store managers because a procedure wasn't followed correctly yet they make us call them for help. I doubt a single upper management or head office grunt has ever dirtied their hands in one of the warehouses for an hour let alone a full shift. They get to sit in comfy heated offices while we freeze to death in what may aswell be an igloo. Not allowed to deviate from uniform in the slightest if it's cold. Your first uniform upon starting is usually one handed back in from an ex employee that's stinks as been sitting in the RM's car boot for weeks. God forbid if you recommend Screwfix for anything Toolstation don't actually sell, your head is on the chopping block else. Yet allowed to recommend B&Q (err same company idiots). Dont expect to move up in the store unless the manager is a personal friend, or you brown nose the RM's or your face fits.

    Conseils à la direction

So out of touch with the people who effectively run this company.. the Store Staff!! Pay a decent wage for frontline people who take all the abuse and blame from customers. Senior and Upper Management get several pay rises a year based on company performance, the lowly store staff are lucky to get even a thank you.

Staff are leaving you in droves, what will it take for you to open your eyes and treat frontline people with a little respect??

J'ai travaillé chez Toolstation à temps partiel

    Avantages

    Near a subway for lunch
    The occasional free coffee
    Part time

    Inconvénients

    Terrible pay
    Poor breaks
Management “do as I say not as I do” style
    Unrealistic Targets
No realistic progression (managers on 10p/hr more)
VERY high staff turnover. In an office of 7 at the weekends, I was the longest serving staff member, excluding management, and I only worked here for 6 months.

    Conseils à la direction

Treat staff how you would like to be treated. Pay better wages for the front line representation of your company.

    Avantages

    Good pay

The hours are there if you want them

    Fairly relaxed work environment

either you are busy on the morning shift so time flies, or you can hang around on the late shift and don't have to do much

There is progression if you decide to stay

    Inconvénients

Sometimes you can end up with lots of hours that you don't want to work. This makes it difficult to do if you have other commitments

Shifts are not fixed so you don't know when you will be working until you get the rota which can sometimes change last minute

    The work can be boring

    No overtime pay

    Conseils à la direction

Didn't work long enough to notice any major problems with management. I did feel that sometimes i was not being listened to and things i had said would be forgotten. So i guess write things down
