    Avantages

    Benefits are decent and the work is exciting. Breakfast is supplied every Friday.

    Inconvénients

    No matching 401k and many of the employees are very clicky and reserved. The location is industrial and depressing.

    Avantages

    Been at DD LA since a little before the most recent bankruptcy. What has never really changed is the core brilliance of people who work there. The core employees who have been there for a very long time are passionate, and it shows in how they work.

    Inconvénients

    Latest batch of management are penny pinchers who seem to move from shiny object to the next to make a quick buck. They seem to consider feature and commercial VFX work as a burden and VR and AR work to be the future, which it might as well be, but not commit to either one of those with proper long term resources and planning.

    Employees talk about this constantly, it's an open secret that there is disdain for this management style.

    Stop hemorrhaging money on half baked plans by committing to what actually brings in revenue. Invest in your employees and company by properly resourcing it.
    The VFX industry is brutal enough as it is, there's no need to constantly be shooting yourself in the foot.

    The passion of the crew is unmatched. There's such deep talent.

    Inconvénients

    Company is constantly shifting directions and focus. They do not give something time to become successful or fail, but pull the plug mid-stream.

    Inconvénients

    no respect for artist and burn them in the production hell instead of doing and preparing right .
    senior supervisors and managers doesn't care about artist on the floor.

    Avantages

    The people there are overall very nice and personable.

    It's relatively good pay depending on what you're doing.

    Some interesting projects.

    Donuts on Fridays (although that will be your only perk, not kidding.)

    Inconvénients

    Terrible leadership: The major problem is that there are many people in executive positions who have no idea what they are doing and end up hiring completely incompetent people. You can have a whole team of amazing artists but you will end up with crud because your director has no experience or knowledge. Everyone is friendly but executives end up hiring their friends and other people equally incompetent. HR covers up for them because the money keeps flowing but it can only last for so long with these terrible decision makers. It's unbelievable how bad some of the taste is here.

    Bad Benefits: The benefits are bad relative to comparable companies. DD cares more about your productivity rather than your wellbeing which ends up negatively impacting projects. Bare minimum holidays, vacation, and benefits. Expect to get nothing more than you're legally obligated with very high expectations of your loyalty.

    Bad Security: If you can get a comparable job somewhere else you will probably have better security. There are rampant lay-offs here. One day you will be told that you're doing well or that your contract will be extended and the next day you're sitting in HR being asked to leave. I've seen it happen to many people. This is a very unstable company that's hemorrhaging cash. Take a few quick bucks here but don't rely on it. There are no careers at DD anymore, just soulless jobs.

    Bad Morale: Everyone is nice but no one wants to be there. All the employees are gossiping behind management's back. There is no faith in or pride about working at DD.

    Hire people who actually know what they are doing and stop promoting people to positions they cannot accomplish. It's embarrassing. It's not that hard to cross check that people have SUCCESSFUL histories. Just because your friend or family member wants to be an artist doesn't mean they deserve to lead a team.

    Avantages

    Interesting and exciting tech with potential: VR, MR, AR, etc.

    Inconvénients

    A mess of a company. Severe lack of leadership and direction that is reflected in the code base and the product. A mentality of reinventing the wheel and the grass is always greener, especial if the grass is some shiny new technology. Projects are littered with a zoo of frameworks, new ones incompletely replacing old ones, so you are left with a patch work quilt that is brittle and not able to be maintained.

    Toxic culture of mistrust because of multiple layoffs, bonus programs that are announced but never come, and performance reviews that are promised but are always "next year".

    Focus! Stop jumping from "priority" to "priority" as that effectively makes nothing a priority.

    Commit to producing quality code that is well tested and maintainable.

    Be honest with your employees.

    Take company culture seriously, and work towards earning back trust.
