Avantages

Team members were polite and professional.

Inconvénients

Poor compensation (30-50% below market for remote us-based startup). Supervisors + middle management made indications for compensation increases (to market rate), but never delivered. Title change from Senior -> Lead resulted in less than 5% increase in salary, plus disqualification from merit bonus for entire calendar year. Poor communication and ownership of cross-team work. Many colleagues had been through one or more acquisitions already, and did not seem to enjoy working there. Very little direct manager support to tackle challenges, but lots of complaining from them about other teams and individuals by name. Middle management poor at screening talent, and technical interviews were scripted and onerous (5+ rounds for some well-qualified applicants to individual contributor roles). A defunct, immature organization, which seems to be relying on buying competition instead of delivering a competitive product.

Avantages

WebMD Ignite is in the middle of a real transformation and it is an exciting time to be here. Leadership has set a clear vision for being an AI-native company. There is a lot of cross—functional collaboration, transparency and OneIgnite teamwork.

Inconvénients

It is a face-paced environment with high expectations. Communication is improving but still catching up with how quickly the company is scaling.

Avantages

Working at WebMD Ignite is truly a rewarding experience. As a developer, you actually see the impact of your work—our products help real people navigate their healthcare journeys, not just sell ads or clicks. The engineering challenges are interesting and diverse: we’re building scalable systems that touch data, content, personalization, and AI. The leadership team genuinely invests in technology and process improvement. Over the past year, there’s been a big push toward modernizing the stack, improving developer experience, and breaking down silos between product, data science, and engineering. You can feel the momentum building—sprints are better organized, the roadmap is clearer, and collaboration across teams has improved dramatically. There’s also a strong sense of mission and culture. People are smart, kind, and pragmatic. Leadership is approachable and transparent (especially the CEO—rare in a company this size). It’s a nice balance between startup energy and enterprise stability.

Inconvénients

Because the company has made some smart acquisitions, there are still some legacy systems and duplicate processes being untangled. But there’s a clear plan to consolidate and modernize, and engineers have a voice in how that happens.
