Avantages

Amazing individuals all brought together by a great mission and inspiring work. Pay and benefits were good for my role (if not for others)

Inconvénients

The business was built around coworking, which is where revenue was coming in but leadership never seemed to truly support the spaces as the priority. CEO seemed driven by own desire for celebrity and while seemingly approachable at public events, had an heir of superiority with staff. Goals/Strategies were ever changing without giving any a chance to take hold. Constant change in staff both on location and at headquarters. High turnover both voluntary and involuntary. Making a stressful day-to-day work environment. Long hours and sacrificing of home/family life were oddly expected from such a pro-family/pro-mom company. Too many cooks in the kitchen, in general, regarding most management and project aspects.

Avantages

The most talented group of team members I’ve ever worked with. The passion for change was palpable amongst us.

Inconvénients

The company and CEO only care about where the next funding round is coming from, while portraying to the public that they actually care about making change. The CEO only cares about her public image and doesn’t want the public to know how she actually runs the company behind the scenes. The wealth of knowledge at The Riveter was used up and spit out when the C-suite got what they needed from each employee. Plans changed and employees were let go at the drop of a hat. Every day was a worry of, “am I next.” The culture was abhorrent because of the fear of job loss. If the C-suite, especially the CEO, actually listened to the talent she surrounded herself with, the company and its mission could have made it. All locations are now closing and they will exist online. They are blaming it on Covid. The financial problems existed long before the pandemic. The company spent money on multiple rebrands, multiple platforms, and multiple unnecessary changes. They gave nothing any time to work, so nothing worked. Bad business choices, lack of humanity, faux concern for change, lack of diversity, and terrible culture made this the worst place to work, when we all thought it was going to be the best.
