Avantages
The people were the best part of going to work every day. My executive team and the team members who work there are all unique but at the end of the day "great people". The benefits package is great and they even offer tuition reimbursement without you having to fulfill a contract period with the Company.
Inconvénients
Long hours will take their toll on you. You are told when you join the company that you will have every other weekend off. Once people start taking vacations, this all gets messed up. You end up covering shifts for people who are out and it gets old fast. When I say long hours I mean it. You are hired to work 50 hours a week. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. You are scheduled to work your 50 hours but when you factor in how late you leave when you close the store the hours range increases to about 60 hours per week. During peak times, like Easter, Halloween, X-Mas, Black Friday, Back to School, etc you can expect to do 65hrs+ easy. The hours are discouraging because if you break down your salary to the hourly rate (with no overtime pay cause you're salary) you begin to notice there are team members that make more money than you. Don't think you can join the company and make it to corporate HQ, that's not going to happen. If you're in the store it's so you because an STL in 5-6 years. Lastly, make sure you have strong STL support. Your STL is the only person who can make or break you in order for you to get a promotion. While hard work is appreciated you usually have to "wait your turn" to get promoted. This might discourage some people (it did for me). You will spend most of your time running around the store just trying to keep it together and completing pointless assessments every so often. If you do work there, keep a cool head and know you best will never be good enough for any DTL coming to walk your store. Opportunities/Weakness finding is their job.
