Decent opportunity for civil litigation experience; okay pay and benefits; potential to transfer; great remote office functionality. Met a few of my all-time favorite colleagues here. At the time I left, there appeared to be a sincere effort to improve all aspects of the firm. If they like you, you get a long leash.
Inconvénients
High turnover; few growth opportunities; not much say in shaping your own role. Hiring/salary bottlenecks caused by March 2020 are still ongoing as of writing. I agree with one of the other attorney reviewers that expectations are unreasonable, perhaps even impossible depending where you live. The experience is also inconsistent on location: You’ll either have few contested matters at all, or so many that opposing counsel is constantly breathing down your neck. If you apply here, ask some hard questions about your work load to be sure you can handle it – average appearances per week, doc review, etc. Finally, treat documents you sign very carefully, even more than other areas. The legal community and courts generally HATE debt collection law firms.
