Avantages

There are still interesting projects to work on, but the management seems intent on driving every employee away.

Inconvénients

Its time again for our yearly benefits cut. In years past we would get a 50% match on 401k up to 6% of salary and then an additional 3% of salary given by the company regardless of what you put in at the end of the year. Last year was the first time that we didn't get the 3% at the end of the year when it magically became optional. All of the literature they were giving new employees said that it was part of the benefits package, but in the official documents (not accessible when deciding to take the job or not) it says that it is optional. This year they increased to a 75% match up to 6% of salary, but it is obvious that we will not be getting the year end 3% ever again. It is a net reduction in our benefits. Next they are completely changing the PTO policy (combined vacation and sick time). It used to be that you could bank up to 204 hours if you were here for a short time and up to 240 hours for > 5 years. This time is accrued monthly at varying rates depending on time of service. Now they have set it up to significantly reduce the bank time over the next 3 years down to only 120 hours. On the 4th year they switch to a carryover where you can only transfer 80 hours between years. Hours are still accrued monthly. That means that now you are basically screwed if you want to take a vacation in the beginning of the year and still have some buffer for sick days. Even worse if if a female employee was to have a child in January. She'd only be able to take 2 weeks paid maternity! What a joke!

At MTS Systems Corporation, we provide our employees with a competitive benefits package. We recently conducted a comprehensive analysis to confirm that our benefits are aligned with the market and business strategy. Through that analysis, we adjusted some of the benefits we offer. Several of the changes in our programs were summarized in the above comments. In addition to the increase in our 401k company match, we introduced two new levels to increase PTO accruals for employees with less than 10 years of service, new employee options to increase long-term disability coverage, and an increase for most employees in life insurance coverage paid by the company. One specific comment warrants a correction. While the transition to a carry-over PTO program was accurately outlined, there was no mention of our Short-Term Disability (STD) Program. This program is utilized in leave of absence situations defined as disability, such as maternity leave, to preserve PTO balances. Together, the PTO and STD programs help the employees manage through unexpected personal challenges, as well as protect their income. At MTS, we understand that employee benefits play a significant role in deciding where to work. And when those benefits are coupled with our truly innovative and creative environment, outstanding career opportunities are waiting for employees here. Avantages

The company is owned by ITW and some things have been an improvement that came with their ownership. MTS has been a great company to work for and has had good management that was in many places promoted from within. Historically compensation was fair and at times well above average.

Inconvénients

Sales professionals compensation has always been based on Salary being 50 percent and commission plans being 50 percent. However the new ITW compensation plan for the sales team in 2025 was implemented to minimize the amount of money that could be earned via commission during the fiscal year and designed to punish sales persons who did not make at least 100 percent of their goals by making them pay back commission paid out during the year. This is an unacceptable plan and borderline unethical. If you are seeking a sales job, my advice is look elsewhere.
