Avantages

Good benefits, friendly coworkers, meals and snacks, competitive salary. Company invests a lot into technology. Very talented staff. Company procedures strike a better-than-most balance between startup and corporate. Some leadership team members are pretty approachable and ego-free.

Inconvénients

Awful work-life balance. The CEO told us that the competitors were working long hours 7 days a week so we needed to step it up. This was added to the annual review rubric. Some managers are full of ego and just downright negative. Mine frequently talked about others behind their back. He slammed things and yelled like a maniac when he got frustrated. In fact, he yelled and cursed at me a few times. Nothing ever happened to him. They change the direction of the company suddenly. Over the past few years, there have been so many sudden changes. It's disruptive but you just have to adapt. Things felt fake and manipulative. The impression they give you during the interview is not going to last. They seem careful about curating their image. Based on coworkers complained about the job, I would bet $1000 that there's something fishy behind the recent surge in positive reviews. I recall that they had about 3.6 stars months ago, and suddenly the score is high again. Do a search on "Intercom unhappy employees". This image protection goes deep. Our Slack messages were deleted every 6 months. Interestingly this happened a legal controversy. Google the name of the CEO and "legal". Lastly, there's a big ethical question about what leadership team wants for the world. During onboarding, leadership makes it clear that they want a world where many human jobs are taken over by AI. They make this clear on LinkedIn posts too. But if you look up their political opinions (they're very loud about them online), it seems clear that they don't care what will happen to displaced workers. Research the things I've mentioned. Ask yourself if this is the kind of world you want to live in. And if these are the kind of people you want to work for.

Avantages

One of the biggest positives is the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects. The company provides access to the right tools, resources, and support needed to do great work. As a senior engineer, I feel trusted to think critically about problems, challenge assumptions, and help reframe solutions when needed. Stakeholders and the broader business are receptive to feedback, which creates a strong environment for collaboration and problem-solving. When blockers come up, my manager and the organization move quickly to remove them. Overall, it’s a fast-moving, high-trust environment where strong engineers can make a real impact.

Inconvénients

The pace is very fast, which can be a challenge depending on how someone prefers to work. Priorities, tools, and ways of working can change quickly, and it requires a willingness to adapt, learn, and rewire how you approach problems. For people who prefer slower, more predictable environments, the pace may feel intense at times. However, for those who are comfortable with change and motivated by momentum, it can also be one of the most rewarding aspects of the company.

Avantages

Founders are still involved and will help on top accounts; competitive compensation; access to the tools one needs; no apparent shortage of money; good breakfast

Inconvénients

Silent layoffs; lack of trust by leadership; senior management is poor at defining and communicating expectations; the fast pace of hiring leads to confusion and ever evolving priorities; tiger teams start haphazardly and end quickly creating uncertainty across the company; a once strong team-first culture has weakened as the company collaborates less and become more corporate; benefits have been reduced; poor professional development; the ferocious pace negatively slows enablement; c-level strategy changes often because ICP changes regularly; employees no longer are a top priority as investor interests have taken center stage; an old company value of 'We go further together' was never replaced with anything about working as a team which is another sign of the diminishing culture
