Avantages
In all honesty, there is nothing in particular about the role or even the Area Sales Manager Role that are outlying positives. - Maybe healthcare benefits? But that is expected from a multi-million dollar company.
Inconvénients
In all honesty, lots of cons for this company and maybe even just the particular market in general. I would fully advise any and all to stay away from this company or any laser companies for that matter. - Pay (You are getting paid a poor and low salary for lots of work). As a TM you should be getting paid at least 100-140k base. You will be looking at 60-75k base here. - Commission (They change their commission consistently and I was foolish enough to accept and sign the job offer without them even having a commission plan for me until a couple months in, even after asking endless times. Plus, commission for a TM can range anywhere from 2k-12k a system, remember it takes LOTS of effort just to sell a system and definitely not 2k worth or even 10k worth the effort it takes). The commission's are unrealistic, especially with the super saturated market we are in. - Dishonesty/Misleading (I have a solid background and have worked in different sales for many years and been quite successful, I took a side step for this position and they recognized that and still started off our relationship on lies. I was lied to in regards to what my territory would be, it ended up being less than half what I was told I was covering, I was told my territory was the best territory to have in the country only to come find out from all ASM's and TM's in the company to tell me my territory was always the lowest performing territory and the hardest due to reasons not in my control, I was told I would be the sole TM for the territory, only for me to find out there are 3 others already working my territory, drastically decreasing my volume for opportunities) This was a big thing for me, any relationship needs to be started on trust and the fact that a multi-million dollar company could not do that and was misleading and dishonest was a HUGE Red flag and I was not going to stick around to deal with more red flags and lies. - Dishonest with customers. I quickly realized this job is closer to selling someone who cannot afford it a 150k-300k car and doing anything necessary to get the sale. Do not get me wrong, I know sales and am in full agreeance on getting someone to see a value in what you have and how it can benefit them, but if it is not going to benefit them and is going to lose them lots of money and become a coat hanger in their office, I am not going to bug them more by trying to force their hand further and getting them to commit to something that maybe they just do not need. But InMode does not care one bit, they will sell a 300k system to a homeless man if they can. They all are under some trance and lie that people need their systems, when they really do not. They have you pitch unrealistic potential earnings and numbers through a freaking excel spreadsheet you show MedSpas and private practices and if the practice thinks they can't get multiple people to pay $2k+ a month on a single procedure then it's the practices fault and then gaslight them on marketing and how to better how many patients they are taking in. They lie about earnings to doctors and specialists. Huge issue for me. I am not in the business of deceiving and borderline scamming. - Saturated/No one is buying (The laser market it TOAST. There are so many companies and options, you are just one of many. It is nice that you are with one of the currently most successful in the space, but that barely helps. Most Doctors or MedSpas do not have the cash on hand to spend so then you look into financing and the interest rates are horrible and doctors get screwed so lots are staying away on top of the previous point I made. InMode like to flaunt how they are the best and how Cutera went bankrupt but if you look at their stock and considering they were down millions in profit last year and will probably be worse this year, speaks to the state of the market. No informed analyst would invest in this company. - Toxic Work Environment (I am not a baby and can work and deal with most anyone and any environment so this was less of a big deal to me, but that does not mean it isn't a problem. Managers and all the above are for the most part toxic people. They think they are someone because they had a 700k year 5 years ago and show little respect to others. They have a high horse attitude and it's sickening. You will run into this in most aspects of sales or jobs so again, it is something you have to handle, but I would rather handle it somewhere else other than InMode. - Zero Respect (Most Doctors and MedSpas get countless reps a day bothering them. They do not like you for the most part and have no respect for you and do not even want you in their office. You have to scratch and claw just to try to come in for 15-30 mins during lunch and on top of that InMode wants you to lie to get that meeting and say you are not selling anything when in-fact the only reason you are setting that meeting is to sell them a platform. You can look at it in a consulting way all you want, but what you are selling are not needs, it is all wants and that can make it pretty inconsistent.) At least in a true medical sales job or selling to hospitals or selling botox, you are actually selling medical, this is closer to selling a car. No one in the company has a medical background and just like to use the title to sound smart and successful, but trust me, most everyone with InMode does not have medical background except for a couple of the head Doc's that help run the company and get paid millions a year. - No training/Lack of training (They have one training once a year. You will miss it if you are hired before or after Jan. and other than that you are on your own. Thrown into the fire. Which I like a challenge, but this is just lazy and lackluster. If you have a bad ASM or DSM, you are absolutely going to have a bad time. - Unrealistic Expectations (This is a common issue with lots of companies, but it is clear as day with InMode and they do not care. 5 meetings set a day is absolutely ridiculous. It can be done, but I guarantee you that more than half of those meetings will go nowhere. Like I said before, they want you to do anything to get a meeting, they just want volume and therefore you will be doing lots of legwork for nothing. It is a bad business model, but it can lead to sales so they will not change it. Sure it is similar to selling other medical products, but this is on steroids. You will have someone down your neck all day everyday demanding you get 5 meetings a day and if you cannot after a month or two, then you are in for it. Goodluck. - Volume. There is simply not enough practices in my particular area. - Chargning your own card for business expenses. You are constantly buying lunches for practices and multiple a day and it is all expected to come out of your pocket first and then you have to get that approved by management and wait 2 weeks to get reimbursed. Silly and disrespectful they do not just give out company credit cards due to how much you are spending your own money for the company and if anyone lacks integrity with it, then handle them accordingly. Little thing, but ticked me off because it is not guaranteed you will get reimbursed and that is an issue. All in all I am not trying to be negative and I have zero ulterior motives to this review. But I want others to know my experience and thoughts before going into business with InMode because I care. I came to Glassdoor before working with InMode and read some of the bad reviews, but decided to take a chance and boy did I find out and the negative reviews rang true. Do not get me wrong, some of these things are completely manageable and if you want to GRIND and do extra work constantly, manage managers down on your head at all times, deal with immature and toxic management, sell something that people are always hesitant on buying and in a fully saturated market in hopes of making 150k plus as a TM or 200k plus as an ASM while DSM and others making a million plus off of you, then do it. But I want to put this as a warning. There are many other jobs and opportunities out there that you can do very well and not deal with the shadiness and headaches of InMode and lasers in general. There are more honorable and lucrative positions. Plus lasers and this market is on a full decline. I wish all the best on their career journey.
