Don't do this to yourself. I, like many, was pumped for the opportunity. With that being said, as my time went on at Fededated before I went to a brokerage I learned that several things were true which I wish were true before I had gone on board: -mgmt has greatly changed the culture towards a more sales organization that is all about churning new clients. Expect to give 15% policy increases every year where as individual agency owners typically give 0-5%. -The pay numbers that are advertised to potential hires are greatly over exaggerated. There are several very old reps that make several million a year that are protected. Otherwise, your protected territories are constantly being split with clients and money being taken from the reps in those territories. Ex.) Taking a 5 million dollar book of business and cutting it in half to two 2.5 million dollar books with two reps instead of one. -Plan 2 is now 4 years of being in the field and reps are getting routinely denied for it. Mgmt can say you haven't earned Plan 2 and deny it from you. This happened to the top producing rep in the company for last year so it can happen to anyone. -The training program is a total scam and only intended as a pipeline for their marketing force. Too often trainees go up to Owatonna only to not have a territory offered to them and have to wait in Owatonna for sometime years before they get to go back into the field. District marketing managers HAVE to hire, they are literally incentivized to do so and have fresh blood in training program. An open territory costs the company a lot of money so they always have to have the training program filled to quickly replace quitting reps. Unfortunately, this leads to trainees sitting in the training program for sometimes extra years. -If you think that this is a career opportunity think again. To put it into perspective one of my training classes has completely quit and gone to brokerages. None of us are left. Not a one I did not want to write this review but felt I owed it to all those who are thinking of taking the job after talking to former employees who were disgruntled with their decision.

Hands down, the best employment culture of any company I’ve worked for in my 25+ years practicing law. Federated is a true rarity - a company that genuinely lives its corporate values every day, in decisions both large and small. Leadership listens to employees with curiosity and a willingness to improve, not defensiveness or indifference. There’s a common refrain that if a company takes care of its employees, those employees will, in turn, take care of customers. I’ve never seen that philosophy embraced or executed as successfully as it is at Federated. Success is recognized and rewarded, teamwork - or “interdependence,” as we call it - is the norm, and challenges or setbacks are treated as opportunities for constructive feedback and growth. And that’s before even mentioning the outstanding compensation and benefits. I recommend Federated wholeheartedly and without reservation to friends and family.

Inconvénients

Business formal dress code for more senior positions may be a bit antiquated.
