Avantages
Chef is amazing. The culture is one of total inclusivity, learning, and absolute friendship; every person you work with is incredibly smart, kind, and witty. Even as a remote employee, I feel completely connected to my team and coworkers. It also helps that many of our customers are big fans of the product! Because Chef is growing so quickly, my job description tends to be fluid; I have a short attention span, so being able to constantly try new things is great. That said, I think a lot of the anger in recent reviews stems from this. Chef is still on an exponential upswing; we try things, they don't work, and we immediately try something else. If rapid iteration isn't your thing and/or if change makes you queasy, this is NOT the place for you. The recent growth has scared a lot of employees, it seems, and shifting from "start up" to "consistent industry leader" has meant a clear change in management tone. Additionally, there's no room for mediocrity, laziness, and doing the bare minimum. If you're not highly self-motivated and directed, you'll struggle and management will know (again, reflected in recent reviews). Benefits are fantastic and while workload can occasionally be pretty tough, work-life balance is better than average for the industry.
Inconvénients
Constant change and needing to think on your feet takes skill and practice, but you'll never have a boring day. Some middle management members seem pretty disinterested in their roles/Chef, and their apathy and unwillingness to adapt gets old quickly.
