Avantages
Decent pay (although I was left without annual raises for over two years), benefits are alright, accrue PTO at around 5.5 hours per pay period, federal holidays off
Inconvénients
Management stinks, they play favorites pretty obviously, if you're buddy-buddy with management, you might get promotions to lead positions or wherever, if you aren't, you wont.... What standards one person might be held to they won't hold other people to and it feels pretty discriminatory at times. Won't give raises when they are supposed to, I was a subcontractor on a contract and was left hanging on several raises for over a year or more, constant weekly meetings that go nowhere unless you're deployed stateside or overseas. I was terminated during a mental health crisis and was never given a chance to defend myself by HR or my superiors, I thought that my direct management and HR were supposed to help me but instead they pulled me into a meeting and fired me in the middle of a week just prior to a deployment for my organization. And they expect you to travel your life away, away from your family and home for not a lot of extra pay (unless you're in a combat zone)
